The theme event of World Intellectual Property Day 2023 was successfully held in Jiangsu University

On the occasion of the 23rd World Intellectual Property Day, on April 23, the 7th Zhenjiang University Students' Intellectual Property Knowledge Contest and the 2023 World Intellectual Property Day Theme Activity of Jiangsu University was successfully held. The event was hosted by Zhenjiang Intellectual Property Office and Zhenjiang Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, undertaken by the Intellectual Property School of Jiangsu University and the Jiangsu University Committee of the Communist Youth League, Zhang Chuanbo, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Office, Li Hongbo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangsu University, Zhai Chunhui, Director of the Zhenjiang Intellectual Property Office, Jiang Meng, Deputy Secretary of the Zhenjiang Youth League Committee, representatives of the Intellectual Property Graduate Practice Base, heads of relevant functional departments and colleges of Jiangsu University, and representatives of teachers and students of colleges and universities in the town, a total of more than 300 people participated.

The theme of this year's event is "Strengthening the Legal Protection of Intellectual Property Rights and Strongly Supporting Comprehensive Innovation". Li Hongbo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangsu University, Zhai Chunhui, Director of Zhenjiang Intellectual Property Office, and Zhang Chuanbo, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Office, delivered speeches successively. Deputy Director Zhang Chuanbo pointed out that Jiangsu University pursues excellence in intellectual property undertakings, adheres to the unique development model of "integration of intellectual property production, education, research and application" in the country, serves the construction of a strong intellectual property province in Jiangsu Province, promotes regional economic and social innovation and development, and becomes an important supporting force for the development of national intellectual property undertakings.

At the meeting, the TISC intellectual property big data platform of Jiangsu University was launched. Relying on WIPO's Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC), Jiangsu University integrates intellectual property data resources, builds an intellectual property map, and takes the lead in building a big data platform for agricultural machinery information patents to meet the needs of intellectual property teaching and research in universities and regional innovation industries, and supports the industrial and economic innovation and development of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area, Suzhou, Zhenjiang, Jiangyin and other places.

During the theme event, the "2022 Jiangsu University Intellectual Property White Paper" was released. According to the report, in 2022, Jiangsu University, as the only university, was selected into the list of the first batch of national patent navigation engineering support service institutions (selection). In 2022, the number of patents granted by the university, the number of PCT patent applications granted, and the number of patent transformations all reached a record high. Among them, the number of PCT patent applications is 125, ranking 15th in the world and fifth in China in the ranking of PCT applicants for educational institutions, setting the best results in history. The university has further promoted the construction of intellectual property disciplines, organized and held a national seminar on the construction of master's degree in intellectual property majors, which was thanked by the Personnel Department of the State Intellectual Property Office, approved the undergraduate major of intellectual property, promoted the establishment of a master's degree in intellectual property majors, independently established a second-level doctoral program of cross-application "intellectual property science", and built an "integrated" intellectual property talent training system for undergraduates, professional masters, and interdisciplinary doctoral programs. In characteristic fields such as intellectual property law, we have deeply cultivated the research on the operation and management of the whole chain of intellectual property rights, and achieved remarkable results.

At the same time, during the theme event, the "Salute to Her Strength - Report on the Patent Achievements of Female Scientists of Jiangsu University" was also released, and the unveiling of the National Wheat Improvement Center and the Rule of Law Practice Base of Jiangsu University, the establishment ceremony of the "Hengweizhi" Scholarship and Graduate Practice Base of the School of Intellectual Property of Jiangsu University, and the appointment of Zhenjiang Intellectual Property Law Popularization Lecturer and other related activities were carried out.

This event kicked off the series of intellectual property culture publicity week of Jiangsu University, and a series of activities will be carried out around the campus intellectual property culture promotion, intellectual property theme lectures and key services, so stay tuned.
