Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Ministry of Education jointly released the list of pilot programs for the integrated education of academic majors and standardization education. The joint project submitted by the School of Intellectual Property and the Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology of Jiangsu University has been officially approved.
This project is designed to implement the work arrangements specified in the National Standardization Development Outline and the Outline for Building a Leading Education Country (2024-2035), improve the training mechanism for standardization professionals, and foster high-caliber talents equipped with solid professional expertise and proficient standardization capabilities.
Jiangsu University boasts a solid foundation in domestic and international standardization research and practice. In the field of irrigation and drainage machinery, it serves as the Deputy Secretary-General unit of SAC/TC 201 (National Technical Committee for Agricultural Machinery Standardization) and the professional technical authority for small submersible electric pumps and irrigation-drainage machinery nationwide. The university has taken an active part in drafting numerous national and industrial standards for irrigation and drainage machinery including GB 19762-2025 Minimum Allowable Values of Energy Efficiency and Energy Efficiency Grades for Centrifugal Pumps, leading the development of the fluid machinery equipment industry.
In the intellectual property sector, it acts as the Secretary-General unit of the Jiangsu Technical Committee for Knowledge Management Standardization, and has participated in compiling many national and local standards such as GB/T 34833-2017 Service Specifications for Patent Agencies. As a pioneer and advocate in intellectual property standardization, its standardized services have benefited more than 200,000 small and medium-sized enterprises across China.
As one of the first universities approved for this pilot program, the School of Intellectual Property will collaborate with the Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology to develop curriculum featuring the integration of standards and patents. Targeting the in-depth combination of standardization and patent theories, the university will establish a complete curriculum system to enhance students’ comprehensive competencies in standardization and intellectual property management.
