From December 12 to 14, the 10th Anniversary Series of Activities of the New Structural Economics Institute at Peking University were held at the Langrun Garden of Peking University. Tang Heng, Party Secretary of the Institute's Directly Affiliated Branch and Executive Dean of the New Structural Economics Intellectual Property Institute, attended the series of activities as the representative of the only non-economics discipline member unit in the National New Structural Economics Alliance.

At the symposium on the construction of the New Structural Economics discipline and the integration of the national high-end think tank, Tang Heng systematically introduced the phased achievements of our institute in promoting the cross-disciplinary integration of "New Structural Economics + Intellectual Property." In April 2020, the Nanjing Municipal People's Government, the Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Bureau, the New Structural Economics Institute at Peking University, and Jiangsu University jointly established the New Structural Economics Intellectual Property Institute, one of the earliest professional platforms in China dedicated to the intersection of intellectual property and economics. In the five years since its establishment, the institute has produced outstanding think tank results such as excellent proposals submitted by Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress deputies and directives from national and provincial/ministerial leaders. It has also continuously released three series of reports, including the "Top 100 Chinese County Intellectual Property Competitiveness Report." In terms of talent cultivation, the institute has effectively expanded students' interdisciplinary perspectives and composite knowledge capabilities by offering micro-credentials and adding undergraduate, master's, and doctoral-related courses. In social services, based on the theoretical achievements of interdisciplinary research, the institute has successfully assisted industries such as the Bio-Medical Industry in Nanjing Jiangbei New Area, Jiangyin Special Steel New Materials, and Kunshan New Generation Display Technology in establishing intellectual property operation centers, successfully exploring effective pathways for intellectual property to empower the development of local characteristic industries.

Tang Heng pointed out that the cross-study and practical implementation of "New Structural Economics + Intellectual Property" not only represent a valuable exploration of applying China's independent innovation theory in the field of intellectual property, but also serve as a practical path to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statement that "protecting intellectual property is protecting innovation."

The Peking University Institute of New Structural Economics, established in December 2015 as a national high-end think tank, was founded with the mission of building a self-owned knowledge system of economics. Over the past decade, through research and innovation, disciplinary development, and policy practice in promoting and deepening the theory of new structural economics, it has formed China's first independent and innovative economic theory system.
