On April 29, Diao Peng, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Taizhou Market Supervision and Administration Bureau, along with a delegation of 8 people, visited the Intellectual Property Institute for a thematic research and exchange session. Both sides conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as “Artificial Intelligence + Intellectual Property in Driving Industrial Innovation”, “Deep Integration of Patents and Standards”, and “Cultivation and Transformation of High-Value Patents”. The meeting was chaired by Zhao Guanbing, Dean of the Intellectual Property Institute.
At the meeting, Diao Peng first outlined the purpose of the research and the key topics to be discussed. He stated that Taizhou is currently in a crucial stage of building a modern industrial system. There is an urgent need to leverage the expertise and intellectual resources of universities to explore ways of integrating artificial intelligence, high-value patent development, standard-setting, and local characteristic industries.
Zhao Guanbing welcomed the delegation from Taizhou and provided a detailed overview of the college’s achievements in areas such as intellectual property talent cultivation, think tank development, and social services. Professor Tang Heng, Director of the Intellectual Property Research Center, highlighted the college’s theoretical research and practical initiatives in areas like “integration of patents and standards,” “development of high-value patents,” and “establishment of industrial operation centers.” He also emphasized the college’s contributions to regional industrial innovation.
The two sides engaged in practical discussions on three key research topics. Taking advantage of Taizhou’s strengths in biomedicine and high-end equipment manufacturing, they explored practical approaches such as AI-assisted patent valuation, mechanisms for integrating patents with standards, and comprehensive services related to high-value patents. They exchanged ideas regarding development strategies and challenges faced in implementation. Preliminary agreements were reached on ongoing cooperation and project-based initiatives.
This research collaboration is not only a successful example of cooperation between the university and the local community, but also a positive effort to promote the deep integration of the “innovation chain, industrial chain, and intellectual property chain”. Both parties will use this as an opportunity to establish a regular communication platform, further deepen their cooperation, and continuously inject new momentum into the industrial innovation and upgrading of Taizhou City.
